Reporting

A better way to report organic search performance

Good reporting is not more charts. It is a shorter path from change to a decision everyone can trust.

A report should make the next conversation easier, not create another meeting to explain the last one.

Organic search reporting gets noisy when it tries to prove everything at once. More charts, more dimensions, more period comparisons—and still no shared answer to the only question that matters: what should we do next?

Start with the change

Lead with the movement that deserves attention. A meaningful report gives that change a name, a date range, and a clear measure of confidence. The context comes next: which queries, pages, or segments created it?

Clarity is not the removal of detail. It is putting the right detail in the right order.

Keep the evidence attached

When the supporting rows live in another spreadsheet or a different dashboard, the story becomes fragile. Keep the affected entities, comparison period, and coverage state close to the headline so a reader can move from “interesting” to “I see why” without hunting.

The best reports feel calm because they have done the sorting already. They show the signal, the evidence, and the decision space—and leave the rest available when someone wants to go deeper.
